Inclusivity and Equality
The club is for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. As well as Olympic hopefuls, we have a thriving Veterans section, including internationals and record holders, plus over 200 Young Athletes. We also have a large contingent of adult social runners and often we find that our Young Athletes introduce their parents into this part of the Club. We have good links with the 2 local Universities, which in particular strengthen our senior road and cross country teams.
Although perhaps best known for our endurance athletes, the Club does competes in all branches of athletics including Cross Country and Road Running. Some members take part in fell-running but this is not a discipline directly supported by the club. Our track and field activity is not just limited to endurance running, as we have sprints, jumps and throws groups, too.
As a club we are also involved in the promotion and organisation of athletics events throughout the city including the historic “Hallam Chase,” the “Sheffield Festival of Athletics”, and the “Lord Mayor’s 10k”, as well as regional events such as the Yorkshire Road Relays and South Yorkshire Cross Country fixtures.
We are “Clubmark” accredited: the national benchmark which demonstrates we provide a safe, quality environment in which children can train and compete.
If you are interested in athletics, whatever your area or level of ability, come along and see what we offer. There is no obligation to join immediately.
